GMBB, KL: Friday, 11th July 2025, Rtist Creative Platform proudly hosted over 60 students from SUMA College’s School of Digital Marketing for an exclusive creative student program workshop, for the first time, at Rtist HQ in GMBB Kuala Lumpur. This collaboration was more than just a visit, it was a vibrant, hands-on opportunity designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world creative industry experience.
This workshop is part of Rtist’s ongoing mission to nurture local creative talents and equip them with the tools, exposure, and confidence to thrive in the digital economy.
Session 1: Discovering Rtist – A Platform Built for Creative Careers
The workshop began with an introductory session about Rtist, Malaysia’s leading creative platform by our founder, Tony Chua. Students were introduced to the platform’s features, including how creatives can build a digital portfolio, apply for freelance or full-time jobs, and collaborate with businesses in need of digital marketing, design, branding, content creation, and other creative services.
Through this session, students learned how Rtist functions as a digital bridge between digital marketers and businesses, allowing these young marketers to grow their visibility and professional opportunities.
For students pursuing careers in digital marketing, understanding platforms like Rtist is essential, especially as the gig economy grows and more businesses shift to on-demand digital marketer hiring.
Session 2: Portfolio Creation Workshop – Crafting a Strong Digital Marketing Identity
The second session focused on one of the most vital tools in a creative student’s arsenal: the digital portfolio. The Rtist team led a practical workshop on how to curate, design, and present a portfolio that captures not just skill, but personality and potential.
Students explored best practices in showcasing digital marketing work, writing clear project summaries, and using Rtist’s platform to increase their online presence. The session emphasized the value of personal branding, consistency, and clear messaging, all crucial for anyone entering the digital marketing or creative industries.
This hands-on session also gave students a chance to receive feedback from industry professionals and understand what employers look for when hiring digital marketers & creatives.
Session 3: MoU Signing – Rtist x SUMA College Collaboration
A key highlight of the day was the official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Rtist and SUMA College. This strategic partnership aims to foster closer collaboration between academia and industry, ensuring that students are better prepared for real-world careers.
By formalising this relationship, Rtist and SUMA commit to creating more workshops, internship pathways, and project-based learning opportunities that enhance student employability in creative and marketing fields.
This MoU reflects Rtist’s vision of becoming a launchpad for creative careers in Malaysia, and SUMA’s dedication to giving its students valuable industry exposure beyond the classroom.
Session 4: Office Tour – Inside Rtist HQ at GMBB KL
After the ceremony, students were given a guided tour of the Rtist HQ at GMBB, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most creative commercial spaces. The tour provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at how a creative tech company operates, from work culture and team dynamics to the visual branding and space design that inspires creative work.
This immersive visit helped students visualise what a future career in a creative or digital marketing environment could look like — beyond just textbooks and lectures.
Session 5: Student Creative Challenge – Social Media Video Creation
The final session of the day challenged students to put their creative and digital marketing skills into action. Working in small groups, they were tasked with creating a social media video that introduces Rtist in their own voice and style.
This challenge encouraged collaborative creativity, storytelling, and content creation, all essential skills for digital marketers today. Students applied what they had learned throughout the day, from understanding Rtist’s value proposition to crafting content that resonates on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, or XHS.
It was inspiring to see how each group interpreted the brief differently, from fun, behind-the-scenes edits to polished brand videos showcasing Rtist’s role in empowering creatives.
A Real-World Industry Exposure for Future Creatives
Rtist x SUMA College workshop was more than just a field trip, it was a session for learning, inspiration, and collaboration. Students left with clearer career direction, improved portfolio knowledge, and a deeper understanding of how digital platforms like Rtist are transforming the creative economy in Malaysia.
