GMBB, KL: 12th July 2025, the creative students of Dasein Academy of Art officially launched its annual Illustration Showcase, themed “All Aboard!”, and what a journey it was. Held at the creative hub of KL, GMBB, the opening ceremony started at 12PM, welcoming guests, lecturers, media partners, and over 30 talented students ready to present their final-year work.
Rtist Creative Platform was honoured to be invited as a media partner and received special recognition during the ceremony, reaffirming our commitment to supporting the next generation of creative talents.
A Creative Ride on the “All Aboard!” Express
This year’s theme, “All Aboard!”, turned the showcase into a whimsical train journey, with each student’s booth representing a unique “stop” along the way. Every train stop tells their metaphorical life journeys, the students interpreted the theme through diverse and imaginative visuals.
Each booth was more than a display, it was a fully designed experience. Visitors were “passengers” exploring different worlds, stories, and styles, created through character design, world-building, and illustration storytelling. Some featured fantasy adventures, others explored personal emotions, while a few offered playful or satirical takes on travel and identity.
Opening Ceremony Highlights
The event opened with warm speeches from Dasein leaders, lecturers and recognition of key collaborators. Rtist was proudly acknowledged as an official media partner, a reflection of our ongoing collaboration with the academy and shared goal of empowering creative talents through industry exposure.
As the ceremony concluded, guests were invited to explore the booths and connect with the students behind the work.
Booth Highlights: Talent on Display
Exploring the showcase felt like stepping through different chapters of a visual novel. Some standout student booths included:
- Story-driven series, combining digital painting and physical props.
- A whimsical children’s book-style as part of their final-year projects.
- An emotionally rich concept exploring their struggles through this mid-early stage of life.
Each student demonstrated not just technical skill but also strong storytelling and concept development. The variety of mediums used, in terms of digital illustrations and printed materials to handmade elements, it added texture and depth to the overall experience.
Why This Showcase Matters
For many of these students, this was their first time presenting work to the public. Showcases like this are crucial stepping stones in the journey from art school to creative industry. They help students gain confidence, receive feedback, and begin networking with potential employers, collaborators, and platforms like Rtist.
At Rtist, we believe in creating more visibility for emerging talents. Being part of this showcase as a media partner not only allows us to celebrate student creativity but also to help connect these young artists with future opportunities.
