The boutique-sized firm allowed me to work independently with minimal supervision. Being the sole paralegal in support of 3 partners with diverse practice areas, I was exposed to various areas of the law.

I was entrusted with managing our cases and clients, in particular, researching and formulating case strategies, corresponding with various parties (the court and tribunals, government organisations, and private entities alike) and working with the partners on a shared schedule.

Among the skills I developed here are drafting of legal opinions, cause papers (eg, pleadings, submissions, etc at first instance and appellate level), commercial agreements, and handling of conveyancing matters. More broadly, my writing has at times persuaded judges or made complex concepts easy to grasp for various stakeholders.
