About Me

I started as an Insurance agent promoting life insurance. This job gave me great insight and understanding of how to close a sale and gaining the trust of potential clients and to maintain an ongoing trustworthy rapport with them. All the sales agents had a target to achieve and the race for top positions in the company was a great driving motivator. My take from this job was that it was imperative to understand how each policy provides and best protects the interest of the buyer. My next foray was into something I'm truly dedicated to. My absolute love and interest in English Literature and the language itself made me enrol in a TESL course and I graduated with 1st class honours. My next profession as an English teacher spanned over 16 years in which I taught topics from Literature in secondary level to basic grammar and communication skills in public schools. I also lectured on a contract basis at a Language Centers where I taught English communication to students from other countries to improve their communication, and writing skills. I was awarded a 3 month contract to teach the staff of a hospital basic English where my main task was to improve their communication skills . I also managed to secure a contract to transcibe for a company dealing in court hearings after taking a required test to gauge our proficiency level. The job required me to transcibe recordings in court from non native English speakers to proper English transciption. My keen interest in the language then got me into writing. Writing has always been a means of catharsis for me especially on matters that needs public opinions or interventions. A number of my articles have been published in the English newspaper. My writing journals has given me a great platform to pen and communicate my views and ideas and it always gives me great relief and joy if my ideas or suggestions are implemented to better any dire situation. My next foray was my role as a Consultant Recruiter in a Recruitment Agency. It was a challenging job as it spanned long working hours and it was a hihgly competitive industry which requires constant perseverance and resilience. I learnt to communicate better and effectively and attract top talents and convince both parties of the plus points . I had to have advance knowledge in acquiring talent, screening and interviewing them and subsequently the hiring process and working hand in hand with my clients to further understand if my candidate meets their qualifications. It was a interesting anf challenging job and I was given another portfolio with recruiting candidates from South Asian countries. This diversity of task was a motivating factor for me and I sourced for potential candidates through databases, networking sites and social media platforms. I had to interview the candidates and explain the job description. Any new job opportunities entailed me to post aand update it.
