Job Description: Product & Technical Designer (Junior to Mid Level)

Role Overview 

At SMX Global, Product & Technical Designers play a hands-on role in transforming creative ideas into real, manufacturable products. You will support both product and technical design, helping to turn concepts into 3D visuals, detailed drawings, and production-ready specifications. 

You’ll work closely with senior designers, creative leads, and production teams to ensure all designs are visually compelling, technically accurate, and aligned with brand objectives. This role is ideal for someone who loves both design aesthetics and how things are made, and wants to build strong foundations in both creative and technical disciplines. 

Key Responsibilities 

Product Design & 3D Development 

Develop 3D models and renders for products, packaging, and promotional items using tools such as Keyshot, Rhino, or Blender.

Translate creative ideas into visual forms that reflect brand direction and product intent.

Assist in exploring materials, shapes, and finishes to support the design intent.

Collaborate with creative teams to refine product designs and visual mock-ups.

Technical Design & Production Support |

Prepare die lines, technical drawings, and specification sheets for sampling and production.

Support development of technical packs, materials lists, and assembly guides.

Assist in reviewing vendor samples to ensure alignment with specifications.

Ensure documentation is accurate and organized for production handover.

Collaboration & Workflow 

Work with sourcing, production, and creative teams to ensure designs meet feasibility, cost, and quality standards.

Maintain clear communication with internal teams and vendors during sampling rounds.

Support process improvements by maintaining design templates and digital archives.

Learning & Growth 

Learn from senior designers and engineers on material selection, construction methods, and manufacturing processes.

Participate in feedback sessions to continually improve design accuracy and presentation quality.

Stay up to date on design tools, rendering techniques, and production innovations.

Skills & Capabilities 

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and 3D modeling/rendering software (e.g., Keyshot, Rhino, Blender, or SolidWorks).

Good understanding of materials, print finishes, and manufacturing basics (plastics, paper, textiles, etc.).

Detail-oriented with strong visualization and problem-solving skills.

Able to balance creative flair with technical precision.

Organized and reliable in meeting project timelines.

Open to feedback and eager to learn from senior designers and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Experience 

2–4 years of experience in product, industrial, or technical design (internship or agency experience preferred).

Diploma or degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience working on 3D product visuals, technical drawings, or mock-ups.

Familiarity with manufacturing and sampling processes (a plus).

Portfolio demonstrating both creative and technical thinking.
