The Art of Wheels: Rim Design Challenge 2022

Hosted by Giant Light Metal Technology Malaysia (GLM), the competition aimed to create a pathway for aspiring Malaysian designers to showcase their talents and gain exposure to a dynamic realm of creativity.

The finalists rims of the competition were manufactured in a factory in Kunshan, China and were displayed at the Malaysian Autoshow 2023.

With the guidance of my lecturers I was able to take home the Champion award as well as a cash prize of 5000 Ringgit. I won by spending extensive time understanding both the car and the owner, which helped establish the design criterias and features. I spent around 4 months on the project, constantly refining the design following the competition requirements. Sketches are done before 3d modeling it in Solidworks & rendered in Keyshot.
