Beginning her award winning media career in 1992, she has headed some of the best media organisations and publications in India. Beginning her career as Magazine Editor with OHerald in Goa, she spearheaded Lifestyle journalism and socio-political commentary for the publication with her immensely popular Heart 2 Heart column. Loved by her readers, fans and critics for her feisty, shoot-from-the-hip, bite-at-the-jugular style of writing, her blunt truths and personal glamour made her an instant popular media personality.
As Editor - Goa Plus for The Times of India, Features Editor - Femina, Editor -Groove for Tarun Bharat Publications, Ethel brought in invaluable content ideas from across India and abroad, giving Goa's people, culture and lifestyle much needed national visibility. Promoting local talent in fashion, music and travel, bringing focus to local issues with a straight forward, refreshing attitude to mainstream journalism, her fan base continues to follow her work wherever she travels.
As Head of Media & Publicity -The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Govt of Goa, Ethel has closely worked with three Chief Ministers of the State of Goa, namely Mr Pratapsing Rane, Mr Manohar Parrikar and Mr Digambar Kamat. Conceptualising and launching the IFFI Festival Guide, Daily Festival Publication, taking her communications and presentation skills even to the Festival of Cannes, France, as Government deputed PR Head promoting Goa as a Film Shooting destination successfully.
As Station Director-Programing Head for Radio Mirchi 98.3FM, Ethel built local programming and B2B and B2C radio business, giving local entrepreneurs a platform to share their stories and brands to a wider audience. Hence making Radio Mirchi a popular on-ground brand through activations in schools, colleges through contests, events, competitions, festival associations. Building an energetic representation of her team and station’s brand vision across the State’s audiences.
Ethel Da Costa is also Founder & CEO of the award-winning Lifestyle Media Content and Communications company -Think Geek Media. Leading from the front, travelling across the country and internationally, she continues to build brands and her company's media vision as a Content Creator.
Unstoppable in her drive to make a difference, Ethel works across India (Goa-Mumbai-Delhi), UAE, Malaysia, creating media stories, managing clients, conceptualising and executing PR events, launches, fashion weeks, style events and celebrities across a variety of lifestyle verticals.
